June 25, 2016 marks the date of an exciting new event known as "Twin Suns Expo". This event is FREE for all attendees and will take place at Key Lime Cove Waterpark and Resort in Gurnee, Illinois. Doors open at 11 A.M. and close at 4 P.M..
This event is pure STAR WARS. Don't miss out on your opportunity to meet celebrity guest Tom Kane and get a free autograph from Tom. Tom is well-known for his portrayal of Jedi Master Yoda in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but has done many other voices in Star Wars including, most recently, some work in The Force Awakens. Tom will be signing autographs during the event, so make sure to be there early to ensure you get to meet him.
We are proud to announce that Tim Rose will also be a guest at Twin Suns Expo. As most of you know, Tim portrays Admiral Ackbar in both Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Tim will also be signing autographs at no charge. Each celebrity guest will sign one item for each guest as long as time permits.
In addition to meeting a few Star Wars legends, guests will be able to mingle with the 501st Legion (more specifically, members of the Midwest Garrison). The 501st Legion is a world-wide costuming organization that specializes in inspiring people to become Star Wars fans. This group is heavily involved with charity events and raising money throughout the year. Make sure to bring your camera or have your cell phones fully charged as this group of costumers looks like they just walked off the set of the movie!
The sister costuming group to the 501st (known as the Rebel Legion-they focus on the "good guys" of the Star Wars universe) will also be in attendance. Several members of Wisconsin's chapter of the Legion will be putting on a spectacular lightsaber demonstration for guests to experience, with a Q & A to follow.
Twin Suns Expo is pleased to also announce four interesting panels. Eric Pfeifer (the host of Twin Suns Expo and owner of one of the largest Star Wars collections in the Midwest), will be hosting a panel on collecting, titled "Pursuing a Collection at Any Age". Eric will also be hosting a "Main Event" panel in which he will interview and chat with Tim Rose and Tom Kane. Savanna Kiefer, AKA The Dorky Diva will be hosting a panel on selecting, prepping and building Star Wars costumes. All panels will include time for audience Q & A session.
A fourth panel will be designed using a round table format, involving some of the talented artists from Twin Suns Outpost. These artists will describe how their work is created, the time commitment involved, and the challenges and uniqueness of each piece. Twin Suns Outpost will have a large booth setup at this show. Each purchase at the booth will include a raffle ticket. If $50 or over is spent, the purchase will include two raffle tickets. The raffle giveaway will be a crew hat that was only available for crew members who worked on The Force Awakens.
A local gaming company called Gamers HQ will be attending Twin Suns Expo with TVs and several consoles for attendees to play Star Wars Battlefront. Battlefront is the most recent Star Wars game produced by Electronic Arts and is one of the most popular games currently on the market.
Twin Suns Expo will also include games, and exhibitors selling Star Wars merchandise and art. Twin Suns Outpost will host a raffle for purchasers of Star Wars art with a special raffle prize- a crew hat made only for crew members who worked on The Force Awakens!
